| | I wish I was a guy. Or that a guy would live in my closet and come out to kill bugs for me.
Because I was sitting writing my paper and then I took a break to wipe my glasses... I have horrible vision, mind you, -literally everything is a blur- so it was weird that I definitely noticed a huge dark thing scamper across from where I was sitting to the edge of my room. My heart raced. Lizard? Only a lizard could be that huge.
I put my glasses on and looked for it. There it was. Not a lizard. It was something like a giant centipede, measuring more than an inch, a bit longer than a golf tee or large nail. Sophia and Nahye came to my rescue after I ran to get them. We armed ourselves with a shoe and a catalog to smash it. Sophia prays: "God, please help us kill Your creation. Amen." First, Nahye went to look for Sheila (who had surreptitiously gone out to buy us boba, aww she is just that sweet...I digress). Then, Nahye screamed a lot standing on my bed and Sophia threw my camera (I had given her it to document the centipede in case it was like a new undiscovered breed. And to prove I'm not exaggerating) on the ground when we had a freakout/fakeout. Luckily the camera was not harmed. We all screamed a lot. Sophia thrust the weapons into my hands: "I don't know how I feel about killing invertebrate animals." Screams. Even though we had yet to see it.
It is still running loose and I don't know if I can sleep tonight with its dirty slithery legs running around my room. I can kill spiders. I can kill roaches. I cannot kill a giant centipede. I hate being such a girl but gosh darn it there's a reason why I'm a girl.
Update:
15 minutes later, while everyone is disputing my story (figures), we see another/same centipede thingy in the living room. Sophia starts swearing, and Nahye starts screaming and we all laugh/scream hysterically for a few minutes while Sophia, ever the brave one, smashes it to smithereens with a tube: "Die Mothertrucker die !!!" (or variation thereof). I take pictures of the crime scene, and then we all run to our computers to look up the specimen and research it online like crazy.
**** Warning graphic images below*****
The question is now: was it the same centipede or one of its friends?? This one seems smaller.
That vodka ain't so smooth anymore. |
